MUSEUM QUALITY HAND CRAFT ALASKAN NATIVE ART

dyed seal gut

Here are rolled up, dyed seal guts. These are known in Native land for rain coats. They come from seals testicles. Testicles are cut in lengthwise, cleaned and stretched width size to dry. They are noisey when they are handled because they are so dry like when you crumble a piece of paper. But very fragile to handle. Break easy when its dried. Have to moisten before you use it. other wise it will tear like a piece of paper.
